Hello, Seekers! Sorry we have been away for a while. We hope you are enjoying good health and the advent of warmer temperatures. On the subject of which, spring has arrived in North America! Aside from the usual April showers and May flowers, springtime ushers in a host of activities that were on hold during our long winter sleep. And (fingers crossed!) a light at the end of the tunnel that is the COVID-19 pandemic. In today’s post, J and K will wax philosophical on the things about spring–whether this one specifically or more broadly–that have them atwitter.

J Words cannot express the joy I feel knowing that we are finally closer to returning to normal life than we are further away. The pandemic has stolen so much from us all: precious time with loved ones, incredible experiences, and tragically, millions of lives. Let’s all do our part to make sure this doesn’t keep happening. Please continue to social distance, wear a mask, and when you’re eligible, get vaccinated. I myself received my first dose of the Moderna vaccine a couple weeks ago, and I’m happy to report that the only symptom I experienced was a mildly sore arm. Let’s make it a #shotgirlsummer.

On a lighter note (sort of), Disney saw fit to bestow the gem that is WandaVision upon us over the last few months. Initially, the retro sitcom format irked me, but it went away within an episode or two and I was hooked. In typical Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fashion, the show fills in chronological gaps that will be useful information going into the upcoming Black Widow movie and Doctor Strange sequel. The former is so overdue, but I’m beyond excited for it.

It was Agatha all along…

In other television news, if you haven’t been watching season 13 of RuPaul’s Drag Race (RPDR), you’ve been missing a pretty good one. At least, in terms of the queens. Ru has made some horrendous judging gaffes this go around (*cough* Denali was robbed *cough*), but the cast is 100% pure loveable in a way that reminds me of earlier seasons. If you need another reason to watch, check out this lip synch, which will go down as one of the best ever in RPDR herstory:

K The birds are chirping, the crocuses are popping, and I’m the only one in the neighborhood whose daffodils haven’t opened. Talk about a late bloomer. But seriously, I LOVE SPRING. It’s the whole symbolism of it – the sleepy tree spirits waking up, the birth of new life, fresh starts, and energy renewal. And it’s the reality of it – the beautiful blossoms and scents, the returning of song birds to my bird feeders. *inhales deeply* Ah, the great outdoors

While I don’t want to say that the pandemic didn’t have an impact on me, I will say that my lifestyle was already more akin to a hermit so having to stay out of crowds and packed buildings was not a problem. I already loved spending time outdoors so I’m really glad to be getting back to weather that makes that more enjoyable. I did get a heated running vest for Christmas but let’s face it, getting motivated to run in the dead of winter is hard. But spring picnics in the sun? Oh yeah, sign me up for that.

I have a toddler so I’m especially excited this weekend to do some Easter traditions like hunting for eggs. Really, it will just be eggs haphazardly chucked into the backyard because an almost two-year-old isn’t going to be finding them in clever nooks just yet.

Lastly, spring just energizes me (due to paragraph one) and I often have inspiration to do creative things. I’m looking forward to inspiration for poetry, crafts, and other writing.
